Marcono Hines, M.D. is Nova’s medical director. Board Certified in Family Practice, he brings years of experience to the
people of Smithfield. Dr. Hines received his medical degree from the UNC in Chapel Hill. Born in Kinston, N.C., he has always called
eastern North Carolina his home. Dr. Hines is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management and firmly believes in the
benefits of quality medical care for everyone.
Gary Tate, PA-C, is an accomplished physician assistant with years of experience in family medicine and urgent care. Gary
formerly worked in the orthopedics department at Duke University and was also an anatomy lecturer in Duke's physician
assistant program. Before pursuing his physician assistant degree, Gary was a paramedic and EMT in Iowa and a Medical
Corpsman/Trauma Specialist in Fort Hood, Texas. Gary says he has pretty much seen it all and can handle just about anything that
walks through the door. He enjoys offering the personal one-on-one medicine that is Nova Urgent Care's specialty.
Peggy "Doty" McMillen, MPAS, PA-C, comes to Nova from East Carolina University in
Greenville where she was an assistant professor in ECU's physician assistant graduate program. Doty has authored numerous
articles, abstracts, and electronic publications on anatomy and cell biology for ECU's physician assistant training program.
In addition to her time behind the podium, Doty has years of hands-on experience working for Carolina Internal Medicine,
ECU/Family Medicine Clinic, and several private practice groups in the area. She is also EMS certified and was the EMS shift
supervisor at Craven Regional Medical Center for 10 years. Doty treats every patient in Smithfield with deep insight, care, and
compassion. |
