Marcono Hines, M.D.
is
Nova’s medical director. Board Certified
in Family Practice, he brings years of
experience to the people of Smithfield. Dr. Hines received his
medical degree from the UNC in Chapel Hill.
Born in Kinston, N.C., he has always called
eastern North Carolina his home. Dr. Hines is a
member of the American Academy of Pain
Management and firmly believes in the benefits
of blended healthcare for chronic pain.
Betsy
Harsch, L.P.N.
has
30 years experience in the medical field
including hospital staff, specialty units,
geriatric care and office based nursing. In
addition to assisting the medical doctor during
peak times, Betsy runs the front office and
assures that all patients are seen promptly.
Betsy and her husband call Smithfield their
home.
April Pope, P.A.-C.
April received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and holds a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Bringing over 15 years of valuable medical experience to the patients at Nova, April enjoys the challenge and diversity of working in an urgent care setting. Married with two children, she is an avid equestrian and is proud to call Smithfield her home.
Xiao McLinton, F.N.P.
Born in China, Xiao spent over 24 years in international nursing in four distinctly different health care systems; U.S.A., Canada, United Arab Emirates and China. Xiao received her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UNC Chapel Hill. Concentrating in family medicine, Xiao enjoys the personal one-on-one contact that Nova provides.
Shakti Desai, F.N.P.
Born in Kenya, Shakti received her degree as a pharmacy technician from Kingsway Princeton College in London, England. Moving to America in the early nineties, she enrolled at Johnston Community College, then Barton College in Wilson, NC and finally Duke University for her Masters Degree in Nursing and her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. A longtime resident of Smithfield, Shakti divides her time between Nova Urgent Care and the Johnston County Health Department.
